Methylene Blue Formats: Handling, Measurement And Storage
5 min read
Ablabs offers methylene blue in four formats — solution, powder, capsules and gummies. The compound is the same; the difference is how the material is presented and the handling that comes with each.
Solutions are supplied at a stated concentration (1%, 2% or 3%). A solution allows a measured volume to be drawn, which is useful where a variable quantity is required, but liquid methylene blue stains readily and asks for care in handling.
Powder is the most flexible format and the one that requires the most care. It is supplied as a dry solid in sealed vials and must be weighed and, if required, dissolved by the user; keep it dry, sealed and away from surfaces it could stain.
Capsules and gummies present a fixed stated content per unit — 10mg — so there is nothing to weigh or measure and no direct contact with the compound. Gummies additionally contain vitamin C in a pectin base.
Whichever format suits the work, the label states the form and the stated strength, and the batch code on the pack is the reference for any documentation request.
Ablabs supplies methylene blue for laboratory research use only. It is not supplied for human or animal consumption, and nothing on this page is guidance on use.
